At KOADE, we’ll always do what we can to ensure our candles are safe. But it’s important that our customers also follow safety steps, not just when burning KOADE scented candles, but any candle. Always be mindful of your safety and the safety of those around you when burning candles. Below are just some of the key rules to follow when burning candles.

Never leave a candle burning unattended

• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets

• Remove all packaging before using your candle

• Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire

• Keep candles away from flammable materials, sources of heat, overhanging objects and polished surfaces

• Place candles in an upright position on a secure, heat resistant surface

• Do not move a burning candle

• Candle containers may become hot during use

• Do not touch or move a burning candle once lit

• Do not move the candle holder/container once wax is liquid, allow for wax to completely cool and harden

• Do not place candles in a draft

• Extinguish a candle immediately if it smokes, flickers repeatedly or the flame becomes too high.

• Extinguish the candle with a snuffer, taking care not to damage the wick

• Always snuff out the flame. Do not blow out

• Keep the wax pool clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring

• If the flame contacts the side of the container, never allow the candle to remain burning

• Always leave at least 20cm between burning candles

• Never allow a candle to burn for longer than 4 hours

• KOADE scented candles are not suitable for use outdoors

• Never use a candle if there is damage to the container

• Always trim wick to about 3mm - 5mm before lighting and remove wick trimmings

• Do not allow the candle to burn down completely

• Stop using candle completely when approximately 10mm of wax remains
