5 tips that can help you burn the perfect scented candle
Scented candles have long been cherished for their warm, inviting glow and soothing ambiance. Whether you're looking to unwind after a long day or create a cozy atmosphere for a special occasion, burning the perfect scented candle can make all the difference. The total length of a scented candle burn time can differ greatly depending on size, wax type, the number of wicks… To help ensure your scented candles lasts as long as possible, take a look at our 5 simple tips to follow.
Allow for a sufficient burn time
When burning a KOADE scented candle, do not burn for less than 4 hours at a time. For some other scented candles, this is enough to achieve a full melt pool (when the wax on the surface melts completely to the edge of the container). This is not always the case for KOADE scented candles however. You probably will not see a full melt pool after the first 4 hours of burning. But do not worry… The beauty of our products is that our candles come in quality steel containers which allows the heat from the flame to gently warm the metal, melting the wax on the sides to help create an all round beautiful fragrance experience.
As with all scented candles, don’t forget to always read the safety instructions on the candle. You will normally find these underneath the candle itself, on the packaging or perhaps on a label inside. Always read the instructions carefully as they will advise on suggested burn times. At KOADE, we make sure you can easily find these safety instructions on our website. You can find these here.
Choose quality scented candles
Investing in high-quality scented candles is the first step towards achieving the perfect burn. Look for candles made from natural waxes, such as soy, coconut and/or rapeseed wax as they tend to burn cleanly.
Trim the wick before each use
Before lighting your scented candle, always remember to trim the wick. For KOADE scented candles, we always suggest trimming your wick between 3mm - 5mm before each burn. A long wick can cause the candle to burn unevenly, produce excessive soot, and even lead to a flickering and a high flame. Trimming the wick helps to maintain a steady, controlled burn and prolongs the life of your scented candle.
Avoid drafts and uneven surfaces
To ensure an even burn and prevent excessive flickering or smoke, place your scented candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts. Air currents can disturb the flame and lead to an uneven burn. Additionally, drafts can cause soot buildup on the container or affect the scent throw. Find a calm, central location for your candle, away from open windows, fans, or vents.
Practice safe candle usage
While enjoying the beautiful glow of a burning scented candle, safety should always be a priority. Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Always extinguish the scented candle before leaving the room or going to sleep. To extinguish the flame, use a candle snuffer or gently blow it out.
